Amazon officially launches the 2nd gen Echo Dot

I’ve been a fan of the Amazon Echo for a long time. In fact, I own two: the full sized Echo and the cute little Echo Dot. Today, Amazon has announced the availability and pricing of their all new 2nd gen Echo Dot!

The 2nd gen Echo Dot comes in both black and white! With the launch of the new Echo Dot, Amazon has dropped the price from $79.99 to $49.99, as well as relaunched the original Echo in white too. According to Pocketnow, this new Echo Dot has a more powerful voice processor to help with its voice recognition.

Just like the previous Echo Dot, the new one features Bluetooth for connecting to external speakers as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack to hook up to your favorite speakers.

The biggest part of the announcement (for me) is the fact that you can now buy the Echo Dot in six and twelve packs! Doing so will give you a slight discount, as you will get six for the price of five, or twelve for the price of ten.

The new Echo Dot also sports volume buttons on the device, which can be useful if you have large speakers playing at a high volume.

You can pick up the new Echo Dot on Amazon in either color for $49.99 with an estimated ship date of October 20th. The beautiful white full sized Echo ships September 28th. Amazon has also launched the Echo Dot and Echo in Amazon UK and Amazon Germany.
