With the launch of the iPhone 7, Apple removed the headphone port from the phone. A bold decision for sure; one that left many unhappy. However, the question that everyone has been asking is “How do I charge my iPhone while listening to music through wired headphones?”
Well, Belkin has your answer: another adapter! Yes, that’s right. You can buy an adapter that turn one lightning port into two: one for wired headphones, the other for charging. Belkin has been working closely with Apple to develop this accessory, and it’s expected to go on sale October 10th. Called Lightning Audio + Charge RockStar, this Belkin accessory will be sold for a cool $40. Add that to the $649 iPhone base price, and you have a nice amount of people looking at wireless alternatives.
Because Apple helped in the development of this, it should be sold in Apple stores, as well as on Belkin’s website. Of course, remember, if you still have a favorite pair of 3.5mm headphones that you’ll need to use the included adapter and this adapter in order to charge and listen to music on your old headphones. A ridiculous situation for sure, but we can only hope that these are only growing pains and that digital audio will become the new standard in the not too distant future.
