With the free upgrade offer to Windows 10 expiring at the end of the month, that brings along a few things. One being no more upgrade notices (hopefully). The other being Microsoft’s worst upgrade notice: a full screen one. Yes, that’s right. Microsoft will give you a full screen notice asking you to upgrade to Windows 10.
They mention that you can only upgrade for free until July 29th, and that if you don’t like Windows 10, you can downgrade to your current OS within 31 days.
If you’re still running Windows 7 or 8.1, there’s a good chance that this notice will show up for you. Some consumers have reported this showing up multiple times, but that’s probably due to the prominently-placed “Remind me later” button. Thankfully, there’s a “Do not notify me again” button–hidden–in the bottom-left corner that should keep the notifications away.
While Microsoft certainly has a point in offering these upgrade notices, many will prefer staying on their current operating system, and it’s quite annoying that Microsoft isn’t offering an easy way out of this.
We’ll have to wait and see what Microsoft decides to give us in terms of notifications after the end of the month, but we can only hope that no new surprises will come up.
